I. Asking
for what you want for you...
Do you ask
for what you want?
Most people have a really hard time asking for what they want. Why?
Because they don't want to be seen as selfish, and their beliefs tell
them that it's not okay to ask for what they want. Or because they lack
the confidence they need to ask for what they want. Or because they
are afraid of being rejected. Isn't it funny how kids ask for what they
want all the time, whereas once we hit adulthood, we seem to lose our
ability to do so.
"Ask and you shall receive. Seek and you shall find. Knock and
it shall be opened to you." The universe wants you to have what
you want, and it responds to those who ask. If you don't have enough
of what you want in your life, then you're not doing enough asking.
Write this down on a piece of paper -"Ask and you shall receive."-
and keep it where you can see it on a consistent basis. Believe in its
power. Have faith it its truth.
Remember,
the worst that can happen is a "no." You can handle that,
right? And you'll build confidence simply by having had the courage
to ask in the first place. You'll also have peace in the fact that you
did ask for what you want. You'll never wonder what could have happened
if you had found the courage to ask. You did it. Good for you.
So, take a deep breath, ask for what you want, and revel in the joy
of receiving!
II. Asking
for what you want for your business...
You can boost your business by asking for what you want, and over the
course of the next several newsletters, I'm going to talk about a number
of ways of doing so.
One of the ways to boost your business is to ask for information. If
you are looking to attract more clients or customers, one of the best
ways to do this is to ASK them what they are struggling with, and where
their needs are not being met. Ask them what is one thing that they
wish they had to make their lives easier. Once you understand this,
then you can more clearly articulate how it is that your service or
product can help them.
So, how
do you do this? Well, when you're talking with a prospective client
or customer, you need to let go of your own self-interest. Really focus
on what it is that they are searching for to solve their problem. Concentrate
solely on helping them. Continue to ask questions until you truly feel
you understand what their needs are. Then, and only then, can you offer
a solution. The trick here is that it doesn't matter whether or not
your product or service is the solution. If it is, great. Tell them
all about how you can help them. But if it's not, they will remember
you as being someone who genuinely wants to help other people solve
their problems, and they will tell other people about you. The best
past is, you get to offer a solution from a genuine willingness to help,
and it will come back around to you, one way or another.
So, talk to people and find out how you can help them!

From behind the barn door…
It's been an interesting week here at the barn. We may be enjoying some
changes in James' work, and that possibility has led to many involved
discussions about what we both want out of our life together. It's really
helped clarify things for us, and it's also made me appreciate once
again how much control we really do have over our own destiny.
Specifically, it prompted us to write out in detail what we wanted from
those changes. There were many things that we asked for, from positioning
to finances, and it seems that most of those, if not all of those, requests
are going to be honored. Which makes us very, very happy. But if we
hadn't asked...??? Well, you know the answer.
We're still waiting for Spring to come around here in NY, although we've
had a day or two of warmth. I'm looking forward to being able to spend
some time outside, enjoying some fresh air and sunshine. My parents
and a friends' parents have returned from their winter escapes in AZ
and FL respectively this week, which means warmer temperatures must
be on the horizon. I hope it's warm and sunny wherever you're at!
Cheers ~
