this issue: I. Your yearly vision for you... Most people create New Year's Resolutions. I don't. I make Birthday Resolutions. It just makes it more real, more personal for me when I ask myself what I want to accomplish before my next birthday, before I get a year older, before another year in my life has passed. So every year, around my birthday, I take a look at what I call my Year XX Vision (filling in my age for the XX). My plan consistents of eight or nine goals, including some that usually remain from year to year (like "Be lean, strong and healthy"). I list them in no particular order, then I break them out and write out my Whys below each one (see March 19th newsletter for having a big enough Why). Then I stick it back in my filing cabinet. That's probably not the best thing to do with it, and I don't recommend doing that. You really need to keep those goals in front of you... But what's fun and interesting for me is pulling out last year's plan and seeing what I have accomplished, what I haven't, and how much, if at all, my goals have changed. For example, one of my goals last year was to finish planning our wedding and honeymoon. Well, check that box... :) Another was to finish at least one of the novels I've been writing. Nope, didn't do that. For the goals I didn't reach, it gives me an opportunity to reflect on why I didn't. Maybe I didn't have a big enough Why. Maybe I just tried to do too much with the time I had. Maybe the goal simply didn't excite me the way I needed it to. After this review, I write out my next year's Year XX Vision. I made quite a few changes in my goals this year, and I feel that they are really resonating with who I am today, and who I think I will be in the future ~ and that gets me excited! When your next birthday comes around, consider creating a vision for you for your next year. II. Your
yearly vision for your business I write down about five or six goals that I want to achieve in my business before its next birthday. For example, one of my goals for last year was that my business steadily increase in clients and profits, earning $X income per month. I reached that goal fairly consistently on a month to month basis. I had tweaked the numbers a bit from the year before, which made my financial goals more realistic, so I feel a great sense of success and excited about moving forward with the new financial goals I've set. Consider taking time out to create a vision for your next year in business. You'll be amazed at the results simply writing it down will give you! III.
From behind the barn door… And it was a wonderful birthday. I heard from so many friends and even some family members whom I've been out of touch with, as well as some of my new family - my brothers- and sisters-in-law... It really meant a lot to me that so many people remembered and took the time to send me warm wishes. Just reminded me how lucky, and loved, I am. I hope that all of your birthdays are days of celebrating you in one way or another, because they should be, simply because you're you! Cheers ~ Alicia
